As a new Floridian, you might have already organized your Florida no fault auto insurance, but there are still other forms of insurance you may need to sort out. We thought it might be useful to list a few Florida insurance facts:

• Registration of a vehicle requires you to provide proof that you carry Florida no fault auto insurance coverage providing personal injury protection of at least $10,000 and property damage liability of at least $10,000.
• Florida is prone to lightning strikes and the area between Titusville and Tampa is called “lightning alley”. According to insurance statisticians, there are more lightning casualties in Florida than in any other state.
• Special hurricane deductibles apply to insurance policies for property in Florida (and some other East Coast states). The special deductibles are based on percentages of property value rather than flat dollar amounts like regular deductibles.
